Grass in the Cape Fear region can go from tidy to out of hand in three weeks of July rain. Once it is past about eight inches a standard mower will not handle it in one pass, and most weekly crews will not take the job.

Two things to tell us up front
How long it has been since the last cut, and whether anything is buried out there. Landscape timbers, a hose, a swing set anchor or old fence wire will destroy a blade and turn into a projectile. We would rather know than find out.

Not by the hour, and not off the same sheet as a weekly mow. We look at how tall it is, how big the lot is, and whether there is debris hiding in it, then give you one number before anything starts.
Cutting a tall lawn the right way
Dropping an overgrown lawn straight down to two inches kills it. Here is the sequence we use instead.
- Walk it firstWe check for debris, soft spots, irrigation heads and anything that will not survive contact with a blade.
- Cut high, then cut againThe first pass takes off the top third. A second pass, sometimes a day or two later, brings it to normal height without shocking the roots.
- Clear the windrowsHeavy clippings get raked or hauled instead of left in mats that smother what is underneath.
- Trim and edgeFence lines, bed edges, the mailbox and the ditch bank — the parts that make it read as maintained instead of merely cut.
Common questions
How fast can you get out here?
Usually within a few days for a one-time cut, depending on the week. If you are working against a code compliance deadline, say so and we will work it in.
Do you haul the clippings away?
On heavy jobs, yes — hauling is quoted with the cut. On lighter overgrowth we windrow and mulch it back in, which is better for the lawn.
Can you cut brush and small saplings?
Along fence rows and lot edges, yes. Anything requiring a climber or a chainsaw crew is a tree service, and we will tell you honestly and point you to one.
Do you work with property managers and realtors?
Regularly. We can invoice a management company, work from a lockbox, and send photos when the job is done so nobody has to drive out.
