Detail work

Lawn trimming and edging

Trimming is the difference between a yard that has been mowed and a yard that looks cared for. Included with every cut, or booked on its own.

The finishing work

What trimming actually covers

Nobody notices good edging. Everybody notices bad edging — the scalloped line where a crew flipped a string trimmer sideways instead of using a blade edger, the grass creeping four inches over the sidewalk, the shrub blocking the walkway.

That detail work is what separates a maintained property from a cut one, and in HOA neighborhoods it is almost always what the letters are actually about.

Included

The four pieces

Hard edging

A clean vertical cut where the turf meets the driveway, sidewalk and curb, done with a blade edger so the line stays straight and does not scallop into the concrete.

String trimming

Around trees, beds, fence posts, mailboxes, AC pads, meter boxes and anywhere the mower deck cannot reach. We keep the string off young tree bark — girdling a trunk with a trimmer is the fastest way to kill a five-year-old maple.

Shrub and hedge trimming

Foundation plantings, ligustrum, hollies, azaleas and crepe myrtles shaped on a seasonal schedule. Timing matters: azaleas cut in late summer lose next spring's blooms, so we work around bloom cycles.

Blowing off

Every visit ends with clippings cleared off the drive, walks, patio and street. It is the last thing anyone sees and the first thing people notice when a crew skips it.

A note for HOA neighborhoods

In Leland and Mayfaire, the notices that go out are almost never about grass height. They are about edges creeping over the sidewalk and shrubs blocking a walkway. If you are getting letters, this is usually the service that stops them.

Good to know

Common questions

Can I get trimming without mowing service?

Yes. Plenty of our customers enjoy cutting their own grass and just want the edges and shrubs handled. We put you on a monthly or seasonal visit.

How often do shrubs need trimming here?

Two to three times a year for most foundation plantings in this climate. Fast growers like ligustrum and wax myrtle want three; hollies and boxwoods do fine with two.

Do you haul away the trimmings?

For shrub and hedge work, yes — hauling is included in the quote. Grass clippings from routine trimming get blown into the turf or bagged if you prefer.

Will you trim around my irrigation heads and lighting?

Flag them or point them out on the first visit and we work around them. If something does get clipped, we tell you before you find it.
